Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas have started supplying natural gas from the Khor Mor field to Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity under an agreement signed in December 2025.
According to Dana Gas, the companies will deliver 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d) from the Khor Mor gas processing facility in the Kurdistan Region to the Kirkuk Taza power station. The agreement will initially run for one year.
The two companies jointly operate the Kurdistan Gas Project, one of the largest energy projects in the region.
The new gas supply became possible following the completion of the KM250 expansion project, which began operations in October 2025. The expansion increased Khor Mor’s production capacity by 50%, raising output to 750 MMscf/d.
Majid Jafar, CEO of Crescent Petroleum and Managing Director of Dana Gas, described the start of gas deliveries as an important milestone for the development of the Kurdistan Region’s gas sector.
Dana Gas CEO Richard Hall said the agreement creates a foundation for broader energy cooperation across Iraq and supports the country’s growing demand for electricity and fuel supplies.
The Khor Mor project currently supplies fuel for more than 80% of electricity generation in the Kurdistan Region, helping provide power to more than 8 million people.
According to the companies, total investment in the project has now exceeded $4 billion, highlighting its importance as a key source of energy for both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s wider electricity sector.
