Independent Kurdish politician Saman Ali has made serious allegations against the Kurdistan Regional Government’s finance ministry, claiming more than 5 trillion dinars meant for employee promotions was withheld or misused.
According to Ali, the funds were presented as being held in trust for employees, but he alleged they were effectively taken and have not been properly investigated.
He also criticized what he described as a lack of action from the central government, saying political considerations may be preventing accountability.
Ali said some regional employees have called for salaries to be paid directly through Baghdad government banks instead of passing through the regional government.
His comments add to ongoing debate over salary management, transparency, and financial relations between Baghdad and Erbil.
In simple terms, Ali is accusing regional authorities of mishandling funds meant for workers and calling for stronger oversight and direct payment mechanisms.
