30 MPs in the Sudanese bloc threaten to withdraw if Al Awadi is nominated for the premiership.

An informed source says tensions are rising inside Iraq’s Reconstruction and Development bloc over the choice of the next prime minister.

According to the source, around 30 MPs have threatened to leave the bloc if Ihsan al-Awadi is nominated for the premiership.

The dispute comes as the Coordination Framework is still struggling to agree on a candidate. Two recent meetings ended without a decision, pushing the matter to another round of talks.

That has added pressure because the government formation process is now in a critical stage, with a constitutional deadline approaching to formally present a nominee.

Reports say Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has backed Ihsan al-Awadi, while the State of Law Coalition has put forward al-Badri, showing divisions inside the political camp.

In simple terms, there is growing disagreement over who should be the next prime minister, and some lawmakers are warning they could walk away if a certain candidate is chosen.
