Morgan Stanley has significantly increased its Bitcoin exposure, adding nearly 1,000 BTC over the past two weeks and pushing its tracked holdings above 5,700 Bitcoin, according to data from blockchain analytics platform Arkham.

The latest data shows that Morgan Stanley now holds approximately 5,761 BTC, valued at around $370 million at current market prices. This places the financial giant among the larger institutional Bitcoin holders tracked by Arkham.

Rather than making a single large purchase, the accumulation appears to have taken place through a series of sizable transactions. On-chain records show multiple Bitcoin transfers from Coinbase Prime wallets, including deposits of 495.8 BTC, 171.9 BTC, 166.2 BTC, 154.8 BTC, 143.3 BTC, 126.1 BTC, 120.4 BTC, and 34.4 BTC over recent days.

After accounting for a small transfer of 1 BTC back to Coinbase Prime, the firm’s net increase is estimated to be close to 1,000 BTC.

The transaction pattern suggests a gradual accumulation strategy, with most of the incoming Bitcoin originating from Coinbase Prime custody and settlement addresses. While the transfers indicate growing exposure to Bitcoin, the available data does not reveal whether the assets represent direct purchases by Morgan Stanley, client investments, subscriptions into its Bitcoin investment products, or other operational transactions.

The latest additions continue a trend of increasing Bitcoin exposure during periods of market weakness. Bitcoin has experienced volatility in recent weeks, but institutional demand has remained relatively strong as more traditional financial firms expand their digital asset offerings.

Morgan Stanley’s growing Bitcoin holdings come shortly after the company expanded its cryptocurrency services for wealthy clients through a partnership with Galaxy Digital.

Under the arrangement announced in June, eligible high-net-worth clients can lend digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana to Galaxy Digital and receive shares in regulated crypto investment products, including the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust.

The program is designed to help investors convert existing cryptocurrency holdings into regulated investment vehicles without first selling their assets. According to the companies, the process can reduce onboarding times for crypto-related investment products by as much as 75%.

The continued growth of Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin-related holdings reflects broader institutional interest in digital assets, even during periods of market uncertainty.

However, Arkham’s wallet data does not identify the underlying investors behind the holdings and does not distinguish between assets owned directly by Morgan Stanley and those managed on behalf of clients through its investment products.

Regardless, the latest increase highlights the ongoing role of major financial institutions in the growing adoption of Bitcoin and other digital assets within traditional finance.
