Iraqi lawmaker Nasser Taqi has warned that continuing to leave ministries without permanent leadership could worsen the country’s financial and economic challenges.
Speaking on Saturday, Taqi said that managing ministries through acting officials or keeping key positions vacant has a direct impact on government performance and public services. He argued that the lack of permanent ministers is slowing decision-making and creating additional pressure on state institutions.
According to Taqi, the absence of permanent appointments has negatively affected citizens by delaying service-related and strategic projects across several provinces. Many projects that require ministerial approval or oversight have remained stalled, limiting progress in important sectors.
He also pointed out that an incomplete cabinet makes it more difficult for Parliament to carry out its oversight and legislative responsibilities effectively. Without fully appointed ministers, accountability becomes weaker and government institutions face greater administrative challenges.
Taqi stressed the need to resolve the issue as soon as possible, saying that filling vacant ministerial positions would help improve government efficiency, strengthen oversight, and reduce administrative and financial shortcomings within state institutions.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions about completing the cabinet and ensuring that key ministries have permanent leadership to support public services, economic management, and long-term development projects.
