Parliamentary Energy: Electricity supply will reach 27 thousand megawatts during the next month

Iraq is expected to produce 27,000 megawatts of energy next month, according to the Parliamentary Energy Committee.

“Last summer witnessed a significant and tangible improvement in energy production, due to the Ministry of Electricity’s plans to rehabilitate and raise performance in the transmission and distribution sectors,” stated committee member Zainab Jumaa Al-Moussawi in a statement obtained by.

She continued, “The volume of production will reach 27 thousand megawatts during the next month, compared to the local need of 21 thousand, calling on the local government of Baghdad to issue new instructions regarding the summer operation of generators commensurate with the increase in processing hours.”

She clarified that “citizens are forced to pay monthly amounts of up to 250,000 dinars to generator contractors in the summer.”
