Political analyst Wissam Aziz says the United States continues to pressure Iraq over oil, electricity, the dollar, and financial transfers. He believes the Coordination Framework should take a clear position against what he describes as American interference in Iraq’s affairs.
Aziz told dinaropinions.com that even after withdrawing its forces from Iraq, the United States continues to use economic and political pressure to influence the country’s decisions.
He accused Washington of using these pressures to protect American interests and push the Iraqi government to follow its demands. He also argued that Iraq’s economy remains vulnerable to decisions made by the Trump administration and officials including Jared Kushner and Tom Barrack.
Aziz said the government is facing American pressure with the knowledge of the Coordination Framework, but the political bloc has not taken a clear stand against it.
He called on the government to respond more firmly and urged the Coordination Framework to support that position, saying Iraq needs a stronger response to outside pressure.
