Baghdad: The Russian oil company Lukoil recently paid a visit to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and talk about the company’s activities there.

Lukoil gave a comprehensive update on their current activities in the Iraqi oil fields of West Qurna 2 and Eridu, focusing on the progress they’ve made in implementing their development plans.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani reiterated the government’s commitment to give Iraq’s oil industry top priority for expansion and development. In order to transition from crude oil extraction to the production of petrochemicals and petroleum derivatives, he emphasized the need to maximize the nation’s production capacity.

In addition, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of concluding major development projects designed to guarantee long-term financial gains by diversifying the industry and increasing Iraq’s oil income.

The ability of Lukoil to boost Iraq’s economy and its strategic significance in the country’s energy sector were emphasized in the discussion.
