Imran Karkoush revealed on Tuesday that major disagreements still exist among Iraq’s political blocs over the distribution of ministerial positions in the upcoming government.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Karkoush said the biggest disputes are currently focused on the Ministries of Oil and Finance, which are considered two of the country’s most important sovereign ministries.

He explained that the disagreements have become so intense that political parties may delay deciding who will lead those ministries until after Parliament votes on the new government formation.

Karkoush added that despite the ongoing disputes, the cabinet lineup is still expected to be presented to the Iraqi Parliament for a confidence vote within the next few days.

The continued negotiations reflect the political sensitivity surrounding key ministries in Iraq, especially those connected to oil revenues, financial management, and economic policy.
