Public Service Council Clarifies Hiring for Media Graduates

Iraq’s Federal Public Service Council moved to clear up debate over government jobs for media college graduates, while outlining an important condition for bachelor’s degree holders seeking inclusion in central appointments.

Council spokesperson Fadhil al-Gharawi said top media graduates, including those in the first two categories, already have priority for appointments under the three-year budget law.

For other bachelor’s degree holders who are not in those top categories, he said their inclusion depends on what is written into the 2026 budget, especially legal approval and financial allocations to support those hires.

He stressed that government appointments depend on planning and available funding, and any future hiring for more graduates, including media majors, would need support through future budgets.

The clarification comes as thousands of graduates wait for appointment forms to open, while pressure continues for fair opportunities for specializations left out of centralized hiring.
