State of Law Denies Al-Maliki Withdrawal Rumors
Salah Boushi of the State of Law Coalition pushed back on reports claiming Nouri al-Maliki is stepping aside in favor of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
He said there has been no official decision or announcement inside the coalition about al-Maliki withdrawing, calling media reports speculation that does not reflect reality.
Boushi also said delaying the political meeting until Friday should not be seen as a crisis or political deadlock. He described it as extra time for talks to move forward and for leaders to work toward shared understandings.
He added that current discussions are focused on keeping unity within the Shiite political bloc and coordinating with other political forces to support stability in the next stage.
His comments come as political activity is picking up ahead of upcoming parliamentary sessions and talks over power-sharing and political entitlements.
