On Tuesday, Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel led a government delegation to Turkmenistan to finalize gas supply arrangements between Turkmenistan and Iraq.
A government delegation headed by Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel arrived in Turkmenistan to complete the procedures for supplying Turkmen gas to Iraq, according to a statement from the Ministry of Electricity.
During his announcement, he mentioned that the delegation plans to meet with energy officials in Turkmenistan. These meetings are a continuation of the consultations held in Baghdad last month. The discussions last month resulted in the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. The directive stipulated the gas supply to Iraq through the Iranian pipeline network to reach Iraqi power stations.
The statement mentioned that the visit was in line with the government’s program to diversify energy sources, increase electricity supply to citizens, and complete gas investment projects and renewable energy projects until achieving self-sufficiency in energy locally.
