Raed Al-Maliki, a member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, stated on Sunday that the legislature is likely to extend its term by one month. However, he also emphasized that the House of Representatives must pass important legislation.
“Parliament is heading tomorrow to vote on extending its work for 30 days in order to vote on important laws,” Al-Maliki told dinaropinions.com.
“There are a number of laws and proposals, including the Right to Information Law and the Right to Demonstrate and Peaceful Assembly Law,” he said in addition.
“Parliament will vote tomorrow on extending the legislative session for one month until the laws are approved,” he explained.
“The legislative term of the House of Representatives’ session can be extended for a period of up to 30 days only to complete the laws,” he said.
