A shipment of $500 million in cash has arrived in Iraq from the U.S. Federal Reserve and has been delivered to the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI).
According to the state-run Iraqi News Agency, an official source confirmed the arrival of the funds. The money will be used to support financial transactions involving travellers and international money transfers.
The source said that all transactions using the funds will take place under the approval and supervision of the Central Bank of Iraq.
The delivery comes as Iraq continues to manage its foreign currency needs and maintain stability in its financial system.
