Iraq’s Ministry of Planning has held discussions with the World Bank about a possible financing plan for water and sewage projects in Baghdad.
The meeting was chaired by Technical Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Maher Hammad Johan and attended by the Technical Undersecretary of the Baghdad Municipality Secretariat. Officials discussed funding options, project implementation plans, and expected timelines for projects that will benefit the city.
Participants also reviewed an earlier World Bank loan provided to the Baghdad Municipality Secretariat, noting that the projects connected to it remain unfinished. They stressed the need to speed up implementation, deliver results on the ground faster, and avoid the problems that affected the previous loan.
The meeting also focused on identifying the most important projects, setting requirements for including new projects, and making sure the proposed financing arrangements match the Iraqi government’s priorities.
