MP Mohamed Abu Al-Eis said there are former officials and political figures who allegedly used their positions in previous governments to accumulate huge amounts of wealth through the misuse of public funds.
He stated that the fight against corruption requires strong and decisive actions to stop illegal enrichment and prevent further waste of state resources.
Abu Al-Eis called for the urgent and strict enforcement of the “Where Did You Get This From?” law, saying it should be used to investigate anyone suspected of illegally increasing their wealth while serving in public office.
He stressed the importance of conducting comprehensive investigations into the assets and properties of former officials who held senior positions in government.
According to Abu Al-Eis, any cases involving suspected corruption should be referred to the judiciary and relevant oversight agencies so that public funds can be recovered and those found responsible can be held accountable under the law.
He added that recovering stolen state funds and strengthening accountability are important steps in addressing corruption and protecting public resources.
