Mohammed Daham, a member of the Azm Alliance, says the alliance is not asking for anything beyond what it believes it earned through elections in the upcoming government led by Al-Zaidi.
Speaking about the alliance’s demands, Daham said Azm is seeking the position of Deputy Prime Minister, along with two key sovereign ministries and one regular ministry. He stressed that the alliance is not looking for a larger share than its electoral strength justifies.
Daham also spoke about the alliance’s earlier decision to give up the position of Speaker of Parliament. According to him, that move was made to help break the political deadlock and allow the political process to move forward.
He said the decision was taken to avoid a repeat of the tensions and violent events that occurred during the previous parliamentary term, particularly around the Green Zone.
According to Daham, political agreements and sacrifices made in the past should not be ignored. He described the alliance’s decision to relinquish the speakership as a commitment that deserves recognition.
He emphasized that the alliance is not using its demands as political pressure or blackmail. Instead, it is simply asking for what it considers its fair electoral share in the next government and nothing more. debt
