A specialized training program on risk management and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards was recently held for employees from several banks operating in Iraq.
The course was organized by the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL) in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
Participants received training on how to incorporate environmental, social, and governance factors into risk management systems and banking decision-making processes. The program also focused on increasing awareness of international ESG standards and sustainable banking practices.
According to the Iraqi Private Banks League, the training is part of an ongoing partnership with the IFC aimed at strengthening the capabilities of Iraqi banks and helping them adopt global best practices in governance, sustainability, and risk management.
The initiative reflects continued efforts to modernize Iraq’s banking sector and align it more closely with international standards.
