U.S. crypto ETFs recorded $610.7 million in net outflows between Oct. 12 and Oct. 16, with Ethereum funds losing more money than Bitcoin products. However, the total withdrawals were lower than the $1.29 billion recorded during the previous week.
Farside Investors’ data showed that Ethereum ETFs lost $320.1 million, while Bitcoin funds recorded $228.4 million in net outflows. Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid products lost another $62.2 million combined.
Crypto ETF withdrawals fall 52.5% from the previous week
Net outflows across the five tracked ETF categories fell 52.5%, from $1.2863 billion during Oct. 5–9 to $610.7 million in the latest reporting period.
All five categories ended the week with net withdrawals, although Bitcoin, Ethereum and Zcash funds recorded smaller losses than the week before.
Tuesday was the only session when the five categories recorded combined net inflows. Funds attracted $194.3 million that day after losing $155.5 million on Monday.
Wednesday saw the largest daily withdrawal, with $393.4 million leaving the funds. Another $90.1 million flowed out on Thursday, followed by $166 million on Friday.
Bitcoin and Ethereum accounted for $548.5 million, or about 89.8%, of the total weekly withdrawals.
A separate report from CoinShares, published Oct. 16, recorded $434 million in outflows from global digital asset investment products. Its figures cover a broader range of products and use a different reporting period, so they are not directly comparable with the U.S. ETF totals.
CoinShares linked the withdrawals in its report to changing interest rate expectations following U.S. inflation and retail sales data. Farside’s figures track fund flows but do not identify the reasons behind individual investment decisions.
Ethereum ETF losses reach $320.1 million
Ethereum ETFs recorded four days of net outflows and one day of inflows during the week.
On Monday, investors withdrew $85.4 million. Tuesday brought $24.8 million in inflows, but withdrawals increased to $129.5 million on Wednesday. Another $60.3 million left on Thursday and $69.7 million on Friday.
BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for $299 million in net outflows, equal to about 93.4% of the Ethereum category’s total weekly losses.
Fidelity’s FETH was among the few products to attract money, recording $10.5 million in net inflows. Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust lost $12.4 million, while its ETHE fund recorded $18.3 million in withdrawals. Franklin Templeton’s EZET lost $900,000.
Separately, VanEck asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 14 to withdraw its registration for a proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF.
The company said it no longer intended to proceed with the planned distribution of the trust’s shares. Its filing confirmed that the registration statement had not become effective and that no shares had been issued or sold.
The request concerned a proposed fund that had not launched. It was separate from the operating Ethereum ETFs included in Farside’s weekly figures.
Bitcoin ETFs lose $228.4 million despite Tuesday inflows
Bitcoin ETFs recorded $228.4 million in net outflows during the week, even though investors added $175.7 million on Tuesday.
That buying was outweighed by Wednesday’s $261.4 million in withdrawals. Friday also ended with $82.4 million leaving Bitcoin funds.
BlackRock’s IBIT recorded $165.4 million in net outflows, while Fidelity’s FBTC lost $60.2 million.
Some products attracted money despite the broader decline. Morgan Stanley’s MSBT received $6.7 million in net inflows, and Bitwise’s BITB added $2.2 million.
Invesco’s BTCO recorded $4.1 million in withdrawals, while Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust lost $7.6 million.
Earlier in October, Bitcoin ETFs had recorded $484.9 million in withdrawals on Oct. 7, their largest single-day outflow since June 25, when investors withdrew $691.7 million.
Solana funds record another week of outflows
Solana investment products lost $25.5 million between Oct. 12 and Oct. 16, with every trading session ending in net outflows.
The category had also recorded approximately $25 million in withdrawals during the previous week.
Bitwise’s BSOL accounted for $18.8 million of the latest weekly loss. Grayscale’s GSOL lost $6 million on Thursday, while VSOL recorded $700,000 in withdrawals on Monday.
Friday brought another $12.7 million in outflows, all from BSOL. It was the category’s largest daily withdrawal during the reporting period.
Zcash’s tracked ZCSH product recorded $19.2 million in weekly outflows. The fund attracted $3.7 million on Wednesday, but that was outweighed by $14.8 million in withdrawals on Thursday.
Hyperliquid products also ended the week in negative territory, recording $17.5 million in combined outflows. BHYP lost $6.4 million, THYP shed $8.5 million, and HYPG recorded $2.6 million in withdrawals.
Thursday accounted for $10.3 million of Hyperliquid’s weekly losses, including $7.1 million from THYP. All three products recorded zero net flows on Tuesday and Friday.
Overall, the latest figures show that withdrawals from U.S. crypto ETFs slowed compared with the previous week, but investors continued pulling money from every tracked category. Ethereum funds recorded the largest losses, followed by Bitcoin, while Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid products also faced net withdrawals.
