The Iraqi government has officially begun executing four large road and bridge projects across Wasit and Najaf provinces, with a combined budget of 374 billion Iraqi dinars (about USD 285 million).
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’a Al-Sudani via video link, with governors and senior officials in attendance.
Projects Included:
- Kut–Baghdad Road Expansion & Rehabilitation (Wasit)
– Expected to significantly strengthen transport links between the capital and Wasit province. - Second Carriageway for Suwaira–Jibla Expressway
– Designed to ease traffic flow and improve safety. - Additional Second Lane on the Diyuni–Jahan Road
– Supports smoother regional mobility. - Construction of the Fifth Bridge in Kufa (Najaf)
– A major project connecting Najaf International Airport with Kufa district through Ghmas, part of the strategic plan to accommodate millions of religious pilgrims.
