The Ministry of Labor announces the imminent launch of the unified social registry

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is getting ready to officially launch the Unified Social Registry, a major step aimed at making social support fairer and more organized.

Ministry spokesman Hassan Khawam said that Labor Minister Ahmed Al-Asadi has ordered all final steps to be completed so the system can be launched soon. The registry will serve as one national database that includes social and economic information for families and individuals who receive, or are eligible to receive, social assistance.

Khawam explained that the new system will set clear and unified standards for who qualifies for support. It will also connect different government aid programs to one accurate and regularly updated platform. This will help decision-makers send resources to the people who truly need them and make sure support reaches the right beneficiaries in a clear and transparent way.

He added that the registry will help stop people from illegally benefiting from more than one support program. It will also expose false information or manipulation through digital checks and direct links between government databases, while still protecting the personal data of citizens.

The new system is also expected to make things easier for citizens. It will reduce paperwork, speed up the review of applications, and improve how the government tracks the results of social policies over time.

Khawam said this project is part of a broader reform of Iraq’s social protection system. The goal is to strengthen fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity, and to build a stronger and more sustainable support system that keeps up with the country’s economic and social changes.
