Production Halted at Three Kurdistan Oil Fields

Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) announced the temporary shut-in of production at the Shaikan oil field, citing the evolving regional security environment.

The company said it has implemented precautionary measures to safeguard staff and emphasized that its operational assets have not been directly impacted. Following the announcement, GKP shares closed down approximately 4.6 percent on Monday, reflecting investor concerns over regional instability.

Separately, ShaMaran Petroleum reported that HKN Energy Ltd., operator of the Atrush oil block and Sarsang oil field, has also temporarily shut in production at both fields as a precautionary step due to the deteriorating security situation.

ShaMaran confirmed that its assets and personnel remain safe and unaffected.

The coordinated production halts highlight the sensitivity of energy operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to broader geopolitical tensions, particularly amid escalating regional instability.
