Mahmoud Al-Hayani, a member of the Al-Fatah Alliance, confirmed on Wednesday that pursuing those responsible for the century’s greatest theft is just as important as avoiding the threat posed by foreign banks in Iraq.
In a statement to, Al-Hayani noted that “scrutinizing the work of these banks is no less important than pursuing those accused of the theft of the century, since banking work generates sums exceeding a century in millions of dollars” and that “the American pressures on the Iraqi government resulted in the entry of foreign banks that would support the economy of foreign countries.”
He went on to say that “the political forces must support the current government in order to save the Iraqi banking sector.” He also said that “America controls the Iraqi economy to a large extent because oil money goes directly to the US Federal Reserve.”
Experts believe that the economic file cannot be handed over this way because it is a sovereign matter that affects the state’s economy and security, and the encroachment of these banks and their significant penetration into the economy may hold the Iraqi economy hostage for foreign banks.
