MP Hassan al-Kaabi has called for the swift passage of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law, describing it as an urgent national priority that should be addressed during the next parliamentary session.
Al-Kaabi said the law is important for protecting the rights of thousands of PMF members, as well as the families of those who lost their lives or were injured while defending Iraq. He noted that many fighters are still waiting for the legislation to be approved so their rights and benefits can be officially guaranteed.
He urged political parties and lawmakers to take responsibility and move quickly to pass the law, saying it would be a way to honor the sacrifices made by PMF members in the fight against terrorism.
According to Al-Kaabi, the legislation would also help organize the institution’s affairs, establish a clear legal framework, and ensure that the rights of fighters, wounded members, and the families of martyrs are fully protected.
He stressed that approving the PMF law is no longer just a political issue but a national obligation that should be resolved as soon as possible.
