An Iraqi lawmaker says pressure is building to get the country’s budget done quickly.
MP Miqdad al-Khafaji revealed that political blocs plan to push the incoming government to finalize the budget for the rest of the year as soon as it takes office.
He said there is broad agreement in parliament on this issue. The goal is to send the budget to البرلمان fast, so projects and public services can continue without interruption.
Al-Khafaji also stressed that the new budget should be different from the usual ones. He wants it to focus more on productive sectors and to better support vulnerable groups in society.
According to him, this approach could help improve living conditions and boost the economy.
He made it clear that parliament will not accept delays. The budget, he said, is directly tied to people’s daily lives and is key to fixing the economic slowdown caused by past political crises.
