MP Mohammed al-Moussawi urged political parties and the Speaker of Parliament to quickly hold a session to vote on the new cabinet, warning that more delays could hurt the Iraqi people’s hopes for better public services.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, al-Moussawi said the country needs all political groups to work together to approve the government formation led by Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zidi. He explained that Parliament is waiting for the government program and the final list of minister candidates before completing the constitutional process.
He stressed that any more delays in the confidence vote would damage the political process, adding that political blocs have already made significant progress in their discussions to form a strong government capable of handling economic and security challenges and preparing the national budget.
Al-Moussawi also said parliamentary efforts are continuing to solve both technical and political issues to ensure full attendance during the expected voting session. He called on all sides to put the country first and help the new government begin its work as soon as possible.
Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament said the cabinet nominees could be presented for a vote next week once final political consultations are completed.
