MP Munther Mohammed al-Shammari called on the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Oil on Saturday to speed up work on three major oil and gas fields in Diyala province.
He urged officials to activate the al-Khashm al-Ahmar and Galabat gas fields and continue developing the al-Mansouriya field, saying there is no reason for further delays.
Al-Shammari said these projects are important for Iraq’s energy sector, economic growth, and job creation. He stressed that the government and the Ministry of Oil must give them top priority, set clear deadlines, and take serious steps to move development forward.
He also called for local people to benefit from these projects, especially engineers and workers with technical and specialized skills. He said it is unfair for Diyala’s natural resources to be developed without giving the people of the province a fair chance to take part in the work, manage operations, and benefit from the new job opportunities.
