The Ethereum Foundation has appointed Pascal Caversaccio, widely known in the crypto community as “pcaversaccio,” to its board for an initial one-year voluntary term.
The appointment, announced on July 29, expands the Foundation’s governing board to four members. Caversaccio will serve alongside Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Foundation President Aya Miyaguchi, and Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger.
According to the Ethereum Foundation, the board is responsible for guiding the organization’s vision, ensuring that management remains aligned with its mission, and overseeing compliance with Swiss foundation requirements.
Caversaccio is a well-known Ethereum contributor and serves as co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, a crypto security initiative that provides emergency response support for hacks, exploits, and other security incidents. He is also a member of the Ethereum Foundation’s Silviculture Society.
The appointment comes as the Foundation places greater emphasis on privacy, security, and censorship resistance across the Ethereum ecosystem.
In recent years, Caversaccio has become a strong advocate for privacy and security in blockchain technology. He authored The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto in 2024 and Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty in 2025, both of which focused on strengthening user privacy and digital freedom.
The move follows a major restructuring announced by the Ethereum Foundation in June, during which the organization reduced its workforce and reorganized its operations. Under the new structure, privacy and security have been identified as core priorities for future protocol development.
Areas of focus include layer-1 privacy improvements, protection against future quantum-computing threats, safer protocol upgrades, reducing technical complexity, and improving defenses against harmful blockchain trading practices.
Caversaccio’s experience with SEAL 911 is expected to bring additional security expertise to the board. The emergency response network has reportedly handled thousands of security-related requests and helped coordinate responses to major incidents affecting crypto users.
The Ethereum Foundation did not announce any new security programs or protocol changes as part of the appointment. Instead, Caversaccio’s role will focus on board-level oversight, helping evaluate whether major decisions and long-term strategies remain aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
The position is voluntary and currently set for one year. The Foundation has not announced whether the term will be extended beyond that period.
