Rasoul Radhi said on Thursday that the State of Law Coalition is facing what he described as a clear political campaign aimed at blocking the approval of its candidates for ministerial positions.
Radhi claimed that some political parties and blocs, both inside and outside the Shia political framework, are working alongside the Speaker of Parliament to obstruct the coalition’s share in the cabinet formation process.
He said the plan is specifically aimed at preventing the approval of ministerial portfolios allocated to the State of Law Coalition. However, he expressed confidence that the crisis could be resolved after the Eid holiday, stressing that the coalition’s political entitlements would remain in place and would not be transferred to other groups.
Radhi also said the coalition cannot be excluded or marginalized from Iraq’s political process because of its influence and political weight. He pointed to coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki as one of the key figures in Iraq’s post-2003 political system.
According to Radhi, several political groups have recently moved closer to the State of Law Coalition, which he said reflects Al-Maliki’s continued influence in the Iraqi political scene.
