Abdul Hadi Mohan said on Thursday that the Iraqi government still has the ability to secure employee salaries for at least the next two months despite the current financial and political challenges.
Mohan ruled out the possibility of salary payments being stopped, stressing that the government is capable of continuing to meet its obligations during the coming period.
He explained that the federal budget has faced major delays and has not yet been approved, mainly because of the long political negotiations surrounding the formation of the new government and disputes within the cabinet.
According to Mohan, the recent completion of key ministries, especially the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, will help the Prime Minister move forward with finalizing the federal budget.
He also pointed to the difficult regional situation and other major challenges facing the government, but said Iraq still has enough financial capacity to continue paying salaries without interruption in the near future.
