Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, said on Sunday that four major issues could delay the approval of Iraq’s 2027 budget by the Council of Ministers. This could also prevent the budget from reaching Parliament before mid-November.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Abdul-Hadi explained that the main issues include the Kurdistan Region’s share of the budget, the dollar exchange rate, the amount of crude oil exports, and how other financial payments and entitlements will be handled.
He warned that these issues could slow down the final approval process in the Council of Ministers and delay sending the budget to Parliament’s Finance Committee.
Abdul-Hadi said approving the 2027 budget will not be easy because many problems remain unresolved. He also pointed to the concerns of different groups of people who have been waiting for months for job security and payments they are entitled to receive.
He added that regional developments, their impact on oil exports, and Iraq’s financial difficulties will put even more pressure on the budget. If the budget reaches Parliament, the coming period will be very important for finding solutions to these problems and moving the approval process forward.
