Gold prices edged lower in global markets on Tuesday, while U.S. gold futures posted a modest gain, reflecting mixed sentiment among investors as they monitored economic and market developments.
Spot gold declined 0.3% to $4,437.10 per ounce by 02:35 GMT. In contrast, U.S. gold futures rose 0.1% to $4,485.30 per ounce.
The divergence between spot and futures prices came as traders assessed expectations for interest rates, inflation, and broader market conditions that could influence demand for safe-haven assets.
In other precious metals markets, spot silver gained 0.3% to $66.34 per ounce, while platinum advanced 0.1% to $1,793.03 per ounce. Palladium was little changed, holding steady at $1,356.75 per ounce.
Market participants continue to monitor economic indicators and global developments for clues about the future direction of precious metals, with gold remaining a key asset for investors seeking protection against uncertainty and market volatility.
