Integrity Commission catches Samawah Central Prison Director red-handed accepting bribes

The Federal Integrity Commission made the announcement that its agents in the Muthanna Governorate had caught the director of Samawah Central Prison with bribery in the face.

“The Commission’s investigation team in Muthanna arrested the director of Samawah Central Prison for blackmailing a citizen and requesting a sum of money in exchange for not transferring his brother, who was sentenced, to another prison in one of the governorates,” read a statement from the Commission’s Media and Government Communication Office.

“Noting that the accused admitted to receiving the money as a “gift” from the citizen in exchange for not transferring his brother, who is in Samawah Central Prison and has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Muthanna Criminal Court,” he added, “The accused was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe money after setting up a tight ambush.”

He continued, “A formal arrest report was prepared and presented to the competent investigating judge, along with the accused and the criminal evidence, who in turn decided to detain him, based on the provisions of Article 308 of the Penal Code, after verifying his statements.”
