MP Hussein Ali Mardan said Parliament is working to pass dozens of laws carried over from the previous session, including the long-discussed Service and Retirement Law for the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
He said these bills are being revisited in the current parliamentary session, and even laws that had first and second readings before will go through the reading process again.
Mardan stressed the PMF law remains a key priority, especially after facing objections and delays in the previous session.
He said passing the law would help secure retirement rights for PMF personnel in a way similar to other branches of Iraq’s security forces.
According to Mardan, moving these stalled laws forward will require serious political will and organized efforts inside Parliament.
