Iraq’s General Company for Railways held talks with a Turkish delegation to discuss the next steps for implementing a transport infrastructure memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed earlier this month.
The meeting was led by the company’s Director General, Mohammed Habib Jabr, and included Burak Aykan, Director General for European Union Affairs and Foreign Relations at Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, along with officials from both sides.
The discussions focused on turning the agreement from a general framework into practical projects. A major topic was the Development Road project, which both sides identified as a key priority. They also discussed future cooperation on the railway line once the design stages are completed.
Iraqi and Turkish officials reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and cooperation. They agreed to work on meeting the technical, financial, and legal requirements needed to move the projects covered by the agreement forward.
