Iraq is looking to strengthen its economic relationship with Italy and expand cooperation with countries across the European Union.

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met with Italian Ambassador Niccolò Fontana in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss ways to improve bilateral relations and increase cooperation in several important sectors.

During the meeting, Al-Zaidi highlighted Iraq’s interest in attracting more Italian investment, especially in energy, agriculture, and industry. He encouraged Italian companies to take part in Iraq’s development projects and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

For his part, Ambassador Fontana reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to building stronger ties with Iraq and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The discussions reflect Iraq’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment, strengthen international partnerships, and support development across key sectors of the economy.
