A source in the administration of Mosul Dam said on Sunday that water releases into the Tigris River basin have been reduced to 1,500 cubic meters per second.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, the source explained that the release rate had dropped from 2,000 cubic meters per second, marking the lowest level recorded during the past three weeks.

According to the source, the reduction came after lower water inflows from Turkey. Officials are now trying to balance incoming water levels with the dam’s storage capacity while still maintaining enough flow into the Tigris River and toward Samarra Dam.

The source added that the water is also being directed through the Tharthar Depression regulator, which works as an important strategic water reserve for the country.

Officials described the reduction as temporary and said future water releases could either increase or decrease depending on water inflows from Turkey over the next 48 hours.
