Former MP Yasser al-Husseini said he expects the government of Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi to gain parliamentary approval quickly after being tasked with forming the new cabinet.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, al-Husseini explained that most political blocs had already agreed on al-Zaidi’s nomination, which helped create broad political consensus around the new government.
He said this agreement among major parties would likely speed up the approval process inside Parliament.
However, al-Husseini warned that the incoming government will still face serious challenges, especially on the economic front. He described Iraq’s economic situation as the biggest obstacle that could affect the government’s performance in the coming period.
According to him, many Iraqis are hoping the new administration can successfully handle the country’s financial difficulties and reduce the impact of ongoing economic pressures facing the country.
