MP Ahmed Al-Shammari has called for new laws to help track down and recover money obtained through corruption, whether the funds are kept inside Iraq or moved abroad.
Speaking to Dinar Opinions, Al-Shammari said there are parliamentary demands to introduce legislation that would make it easier to identify, pursue, and recover money gained through corruption.
He said these laws would help close legal gaps that currently make it difficult to recover public funds. They would also establish clear procedures for tracking money and assets linked to corruption crimes.
Al-Shammari stressed the need for laws to recover corruption proceeds, enforce the “Where Did You Get This Money?” law, and strengthen oversight to help prevent bribery and corruption before they occur.
