A member of Iraq’s Parliamentary Electricity Committee has warned that public frustration could grow as electricity supply hours continue to decline across the country.
Riyadh Adai said the reduction in power supply is creating serious difficulties for citizens, especially as temperatures continue to rise during the summer months. He stressed that the situation requires urgent action to identify and solve the causes behind the ongoing shortages.
According to Adai, if electricity supply hours keep falling and quick solutions are not implemented, public dissatisfaction and resentment could increase significantly.
He called on the government and the Ministry of Electricity to take immediate steps to improve the power system and provide more stable electricity to households and businesses.
Adai also emphasized that solving the electricity crisis requires clear and fast plans, along with close monitoring of power generation, transmission, and distribution. He said these measures are necessary to meet citizens’ energy needs, reduce outages, and prevent the country from facing the same electricity crisis throughout the summer.
