Imran Karkoush, a member of the State of Law Coalition, has called for the swift completion of Iraq’s ministerial cabinet, stressing the need for an emergency parliamentary session to fill the remaining government positions.

Karkoush said the Coordination Framework had previously urged Parliament to hold a session to finalize Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s cabinet after lawmakers were unable to approve all ministerial nominees during earlier sessions.

According to Karkoush, the government is still operating without a full team of ministers, which limits its ability to function at full capacity. He said the remaining ministerial positions should be filled as soon as possible to ensure the government has complete authority and can effectively carry out its responsibilities.

He noted that nine ministerial posts still need to be approved by Parliament and called for an emergency session to vote on the remaining nominees.

Karkoush also highlighted the importance of filling several key ministries, including the Interior, Defense, and Higher Education ministries. He said these positions require qualified and experienced leaders who can focus on serving the country and addressing the needs of citizens.

According to Karkoush, completing the cabinet would strengthen government performance, improve decision-making, and help ensure greater political and administrative stability in Iraq.
