Ibrahim al-Sakini called on Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Wahib to fully comply with laws that prevent government officials from combining public duties with private business activities.
Al-Sakini said Iraqi laws and regulations clearly prohibit government officials from managing private companies or commercial contracts while holding official positions in the state.
He stressed that the current stage requires full focus on running government institutions and carrying out executive responsibilities without any conflict between public office and private business interests.
According to Al-Sakini, officials should give up private commercial activities in line with legal requirements in order to ensure transparency and avoid conflicts of interest.
The issue comes as observers continue raising concerns about the ownership of private companies by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Wahib, especially since some of those companies reportedly had previous commercial and investment dealings with the government.
Critics argue that there should be a complete separation between government authority and private investment interests to prevent any possible misuse of official positions for financial or commercial benefit.
