Elon Musk has voiced concern about the growing U.S. national debt, agreeing with a prediction that the situation could become very serious if the debt reaches $50 trillion.
Musk was responding to a post on X that included a chart projecting U.S. national debt to hit $50 trillion by around 2030. The post suggested that reaching that level could trigger major economic problems for the country.
In response, Musk simply wrote, “The graph is accurate,” signaling that he agrees with the overall concern about the rapid growth of government debt.
The comments come shortly after U.S. national debt passed the $40 trillion mark for the first time in history. The figure has doubled over the past decade, increasing by about $20 trillion in less than ten years.
Economists and financial analysts continue to debate the long-term impact of rising debt levels. According to projections from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, U.S. public debt could reach $50 trillion within the next six years if major changes to government spending or tax policies are not made.
The growing debt has become a major topic of discussion among policymakers, business leaders, and investors, with concerns focused on its potential effects on economic growth, government finances, and future generations.
