Iraq and Uzbekistan have taken another step toward strengthening trade and transportation ties by holding a virtual meeting to discuss a new agreement covering the movement of passengers and goods by road.
According to Iraq’s Ministry of Transport, the meeting was organized by the General Company for Land Transport in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions focused on reviewing a draft agreement prepared by the Iraqi side to regulate road transport operations between the two countries.
Murtada al-Shahmani, Director of the General Company for Land Transport, said the company participated in discussions related to freight transportation and reviewed the proposed provisions included in the draft.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Justice, as well as several departments within the Ministry of Transport.
Al-Shahmani noted that both countries will continue working together in the coming period to finalize the agreement and complete its official text.
