The Iraqi Ministry of Oil reported on Thursday that Iraq had signed a contract to develop the Mansuriya gas field in Diyala governorate in eastern Iraq with a group that included Petro Iraq and China’s Jereh Group.
According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Oil Minister of Iraq, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, stated in the statement that the agreement will increase the country’s gas production by 300 million cubic feet per day.
One of Iraq’s most promising producing areas is the Mansuriya gas field. According to Abdul-Ghani, it will assist the nation in meeting its gas requirements to fuel power plants.
Within the fifth and sixth licensing rounds for oil and gas exploration, the Iraqi Oil Ministry made the announcement a few days ago that fourteen contracts had been signed.
According to Abdul-Ghani, the agreements reached are a significant accomplishment for the Iraqi government in the gas sector.
Iraq’s overall production will increase by approximately 750,000 barrels of crude oil and more than 850 million cubic feet of gas as a result of the Oil Ministry’s recent deals.
Mansuriya is Iraq’s second-largest gas field, after Akkas, with estimated reserves of 4.5 trillion cubic feet. It is 20 kilometers long and three to four kilometers wide.
