Iraq’s Ministry of Oil has now been given permission to negotiate a long-term deal with Turkey for the Iraq-Turkey pipeline (ITP), based on a new cabinet decision. The Council of Ministers also approved changes to Resolution 254 of 2026, which extends the current pipeline contract for another four months.
Under the updated decision, the Ministry of Oil can now discuss several key issues with the Turkish side, including a long-term pipeline agreement, tariff rates, oil delivery amounts, and other commercial and technical details.
The cabinet also agreed to extend the Ministry of Electricity’s contract linked to the Iraq-Turkey line for another four months.
