Iraqi MP Mansour Hussein of the Reconstruction and Development Bloc has emphasized that all efforts to combat corruption must be carried out strictly according to the law and supported by clear evidence.
Speaking on Saturday, Hussein said the bloc supports the government’s anti-corruption campaign but stressed that any action taken against individuals accused of corruption must be based on legal procedures and verifiable proof.
He noted that while the bloc backs efforts to fight corruption, it has concerns about the government’s current approach to managing the campaign.
According to Hussein, the fight against corruption should not be limited by political considerations or protected interests. He argued that no individual or institution should be beyond accountability if evidence of wrongdoing exists.
At the same time, he stressed that investigations and legal actions must be conducted fairly and transparently to ensure justice is achieved and to prevent the campaign from being used for purposes unrelated to fighting corruption.
Hussein called for a balanced approach that combines strong accountability measures with full respect for legal standards, due process, and the rule of law.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions in Iraq about anti-corruption efforts, government reforms, and the need to strengthen public confidence in state institutions through transparent and impartial investigations.
The Reconstruction and Development Bloc maintains that effective anti-corruption measures are essential, but insists that all actions must remain grounded in evidence and legal procedures to guarantee fairness and credibility.
