Mosul Provincial Council confirmed on Tuesday that the Mosul Dam remains safe and stable, with its water level reaching the highest point seen in several years.
Council member Mohammed Jassim al-Kaka’i said reports about water leaks at the dam are not true. He explained that maintenance and grouting work is being carried out according to approved technical and engineering standards under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources.
Al-Kaka’i said officials are closely following the situation and confirmed that the dam’s current water level is considered very strong compared with previous years.
He highlighted that the Mosul Dam is a major strategic facility for both Nineveh province and all of Iraq. The dam plays an important role in the Tigris River system and serves as a key water reserve for several provinces.
He added that the dam is under continuous monitoring, with regular reports being submitted by the responsible authorities. So far, no problems or dangerous incidents have been reported.
Officials are maintaining regular communication with the dam’s management and the Ministry of Water Resources to ensure the continued safety and stability of the facility.
