
Iraq’s Finance Minister, Faleh Sari, stressed the importance of close cooperation with the Central Bank as the country faces ongoing financial and economic challenges.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, Sari met with Central Bank Governor Nizar Nasser Hussein to discuss the current economic situation and ways to manage financial pressures more effectively.
During the meeting, the Finance Minister said the current circumstances require continuous coordination between fiscal and monetary policies. He explained that this cooperation is necessary to manage financial resources efficiently, ensure the government can meet its obligations, and continue efforts to reform the financial system.
Sari also highlighted the need for stronger data sharing between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank. He said accelerating digital transformation would improve the efficiency of financial institutions and help them respond more quickly to economic changes.
For his part, Central Bank Governor Nizar Hussein said the bank remains focused on maintaining monetary stability, improving banking operations, and supporting the needs of the national economy. He emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Finance on key financial and economic issues.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue working together on measures aimed at strengthening financial and monetary stability while ensuring the government can continue meeting its essential obligations.
