Norwegian energy company DNO has given an update on its operations in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, saying it is preparing to ramp production back up after a temporary shutdown earlier this year.

The company said two wells drilled in late 2025 and early 2026 were brought online at the Tawke field at the start of the first quarter.

But after the U.S.-Israeli air campaign against Iran began in late February, DNO paused production and drilling in Kurdistan as a precautionary safety measure.

Operations restarted on April 9. Since then, the company has resumed field work, including maintenance on existing wells, and relaunched its previously announced eight-well drilling campaign.

The goal is to resume output from the Tawke and Peshkabir fields at higher rates.

DNO also said oil produced from the Tawke license during the quarter was sold to a local buyer, with payments continuing to be received in advance of deliveries.

In simple terms, DNO paused operations because of regional security risks, but activity is now back underway and the company is preparing for stronger production ahead.

The company is expected to release its full first-quarter financial and operating results on May 7.
